Many people experience sleep disturbances at one time or another in their life. One of the most effective natural methods that Doc Robert knows to boost sleep quality is to put a few drops (1-5 depending on your sensitivity) on your pillow at night. Lavender oil is remarkably kind, with few cautions to note. However it is NOT recommended is if you are affected by sleep apnoea, and please don’t use it if you take other insomnia or sedative medication, as the effect might be too great.
Lavender oil may also be added to your bath water (a few drops), used in an essence burner (a few drops in water) to diffuse into the air, or added to a carrier oil such as sweet almond or coconut oil for massages (5 ml lavander oil to 100 ml carrier oil).
Improved sleep is not the only potential benefit of using lavender oil. Research has found that it may also improve the symptoms of anxiety and depression, reduce pain, reduce the severity menstrual cramps.
Finally, aromatherapists recommend using lavender oil undiluted on minor burns, as it appears both to reduce the pain associated with them and quicken the healing process.
